Art Shows

Doug Hammett, Outi Harma, Brad Davis & Stephanie Shaw

Welcome to "Totem," an art exhibition showing the works of 4 artists: Doug Hammett, Outi Harma, Stephanie Shaw, and Brad Davis. The artwork is presented in a vertical format to accentuate the relationship between what’s found between opposing spaces above/below and inside/outside. In some of the works the images honor the many faces of the archetypal worlds, serving as windows to the multidimensional universe we embody.

Traditionally totems have served as a means to connect people to the spirit world. They help give shape and relationship to an otherwise intangible energy. These entities take the shape of power animals, spirit guides, and ancestors serving as a primary connection to nature and spirit.

Doug Hammett's paintings and assemblage sculptures introduce viewers to a realm of unique mythical creatures that organically take shape from abstraction. Brad Davis’ sculptures elevate found objects, such as vases, and candlesticks, to majestic spiritual architectural spires.

Outi Harma's energetic portrait paintings serve as windows in hidden worlds filled with abstract narratives and raw feeling tones. Stephanie Shaw’s playful paintings and sculptures take inspiration from her surroundings and  represents them in organic shapes and colors.

As you journey through this forest of art pieces there is an opportunity to play and discover unique relationships with these hidden worlds. May these encounters awaken the wild soul within each of us, fostering a deeper appreciation for the sacred bonds that unite us with the natural world and the spiritual realm.

LOST & FOUND: Assembling New Life from a Throw-Away Culture

Artists: Brad Davis & Doug Hammett

In this world of easy come, easy go we seem to have no patience or time for things beyond their initial use. This throw-away culture does not encourage the making or fixing of things. Therefore, there is a surplus of stuff readily available for repurposing into art.

Assemblage is the art of combining objects from many origins into a creative piece. With this art form new characters and stories take shape from discarded objects found in trash cans, thrift stores, swap meets, and the dark corners of garages.

Brad Davis and Doug Hammett have put together a playful and exciting show of their assemblage artworks to share with you. Come and spend time with these exciting creations at ART105 Gallery in Old Town Pasadena.

"Inside Out" Group Art Show

THIS SHOW IS NOW VIRTUAL.  PLEASE GO TO THE VIRTUAL GALLERY PAGE FOR INSTRUCTIONS.

The term “Inside Out” refers to the big reveal, where something at the inner core shifts to an outward expression. This can manifest on many levels; physically, emotionally, and spiritually. In  this show, 4 artists were chosen for their unique way of how they reveal what is often  hidden or ignored.

Brad Davis incorporates multiple layers of texture in his paintings which encourage the viewers to move into his tactile 3D worlds. By bringing the surface ‘out’ the viewer is drawn ‘in’ to experience a unique history within the layers of paint.

Doug Hammett has taken on the persona of “Candy” when painting with saturated colors on heavily textured surfaces.  This series finds playful relationships between inner and outer worlds. Unexpected narratives develop as figurative and abstraction dance side by side.

Outi Harma’s archetypal paintings use the language of the mythological female to move out of the emotional landscaped that are normally held deep within the recesses of one’s being. Her images merge the visible and invisible worlds.

David Hollen brings to view the often hidden fundamental geometric patterns of life, that forms the inner structures of nature, such as Beehives, Sea Sponges, and  bubble foam, and sea plankton skeletons.

This is a unique opportunity to explore these art pieces and experience how they uniquely guide you “Inside Out".
