Art 105 is a fluid space, allowing one to step back and see the bigger picture of one’s creative direction. Its function adjusts to whatever creative project lands within its walls. It has been a fine art gallery, a place for workshops, music studio, creative office, artist’s studio, theater, etc.
Opening Night: Saturday, May 18, 2024 Time: 6 - 10 pm Theater & Music Performance
Welcome to "Totem," an art exhibition showing the works of 4 artists: Doug Hammett, Outi Harma, Stephanie Shaw, and Brad Davis. The artwork is presented in a vertical format to accentuate the relationship between what’s found between opposing spaces above/below and inside/outside. In some of the works the images honor the many faces of the archetypal worlds, serving as windows to the multidimensional universe we embody.
Traditionally totems have served as a means to connect people to the spirit world. They help give shape and relationship to an otherwise intangible energy. These entities take the shape of power animals, spirit guides, and ancestors serving as a primary connection to nature and spirit.
Doug Hammett's paintings and assemblage sculptures introduce viewers to a realm of unique mythical creatures that organically take shape from abstraction. Brad Davis’ sculptures elevate found objects, such as vases, and candlesticks, to majestic spiritual architectural spires.
Outi Harma's energetic portrait paintings serve as windows in hidden worlds filled with abstract narratives and raw feeling tones. Stephanie Shaw’s playful paintings and sculptures take inspiration from her surroundings and represents them in organic shapes and colors.
As you journey through this forest of art pieces there is an opportunity to play and discover unique relationships with these hidden worlds. May these encounters awaken the wild soul within each of us, fostering a deeper appreciation for the sacred bonds that unite us with the natural world and the spiritual realm.

Anything can happen in this alchemical laboratory where many disciplines and mediums are allowed to cross over and influence each other. Just as long as it can be seen as Art, these walls can hold space for their exploration and presentation.

Doug Hammett is a wild and uncontainable gay walker between worlds. Insightful and delightful provider of creative play spaces that promote the exploration and blending of the Visual, Musical, and Theatrical Arts. He is a visual artist, publisher of illustrated books, abstract theater extraordinaire, puppeteer, and musician.
Brush to Pen Publications presents the illustrated and written works of Doug Hammett, a Los Angeles based artist. These works range from children’s books for all ages and surrealist prose to playful eroticism and psychological narratives found within the Tarot. All these works begin with a commitment to unique characters discovered through the intuitive process of drawing and painting. You are bound to enjoy these illustrated narratives and much as Doug did while discovering them himself.
Hosting and presenting art, music, films, theater, performances, spoken word, educational lectures, and workshops. It is a creative laboratory, where ideas and elements are put to the test by pushing their limits and discovering that which is outside the box.
